Here will be classroom policies, expectations, syllabus, and the rubric for all projects. A copy will be provided at the beginning of the year as well.
Classroom Expectations |
Homework/Grading Policy |
PURPOSE: I strongly believe that the best classroom is a safe classroom. For this reason, I have listed below my personal rules and expectations for everyone to follow. Please familiarize yourself with these rules and policies, enforced to provide well-rounded safety and security for us all throughout the school year, ensuring that we achieve the best possible learning environment for all students.
1) COME TO CLASS PREPARED! It is expected that you will have paper, pencils and/or pens (black/blue), assignments, etc. with you when you arrive to class each day. I will notify you of any additional materials required prior to class and will have reminders posted so that you don’t forget. 2) GET TO WORK RIGHT AWAY! It is expected that you will come to class on time (BEFORE the tardy bell) and be seated before the bell rings. This will give you a chance to start the day’s writing activity and give me time to take roll. 3) BE POLITE! Everyone in this class has the right to be heard and express their thoughts and opinions. We want to be able to have open discussions and the only way to do so is to allow each person to voice their opinions. I will listen to your opinion and respect your views, I expect you to do the same for others. 4) SAFETY IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY! My goal is to make sure we all go home with the same number of fingers and toes as we came in with. Safety is a high priority and engaging in dangerous or disruptive activities will instantly result in your removal from the class. 5) HALL PASSES! During class is not the time to use the restroom; please use your time before and after lunch and between classes wisely. I only allow the use of the restroom in emergency situations, so make sure you use the restroom before you enter the classroom. 6) WHEN IS CLASS OVER? Class is over when I release you. Not five minutes before the bell or when the bell rings, but when we have finished our work for the day and I have released you. I will not keep you late for your next class unless necessary. We always leave the classroom spotless and we never line up at the door. HOW TO KNOW WHEN YOU ARE BREAKING THESE RULES A. The Evil Teacher Eye: When you are in violation of any of the above rules, the first warning will be me looking at you in a less than friendly stare. B. Location, Location, Location: In a second attempt to refocus you, I will move towards your desk, encouraging you to pay attention using many nonverbal cues. This will be the last nonverbal refocus attempt. C. Four Questions: You will be asked the Four Questions in order to help you refocus yourself and get you back on track. D. Parent Contact: Your parents will be contacted and we will work together on a solution if the problem continues and you are unable to focus in my classroom. E. Parent Contact & Lunch Reflection: Parents will be contacted again, and you will be given an opportunity to reflect upon your actions in my classroom during lunch. F. Parent Contact & Behavioral Academy: If the problem continues, parents will be contacted and you will be given an opportunity to reflect upon your actions in Behavioral Academy. G. Behave Out. Parents will always be kept in the loop of what you're doing in my classroom. This is to help you better yourself and improve your learning at school. Remember that these rules are created for our benefit and may change if our safety or learning is compromised. As long as we know the rules, I believe we can have an enjoyable and productive year. |
FULL NAME, PERIOD, DATE, & SUBJECT MUST BE WRITTEN ON THE TOP OF YOUR PAPERS FOR FULL CREDIT! Any paper without this information will automatically receive 5% off.
ONLY ASSIGNMENTS TURNED IN ON-TIME RECEIVE FULL CREDIT! Late work will receive a 5% reduction for each day it is missing. No missing assignments will be accepted for credit after a unit of study has been completed. Any missing work needs to be completed before or after school. Absences do not excuse you from doing your assignments. If you are absent (not sports or academic club related) you will have an additional day to complete your work. This extension, however, does NOT apply to extended projects where you have had a long period of time (longer than two weeks) to complete them. Extended absences will be handled on a case-by-case basis. IF YOU HAVE BEEN ABSENT: Make sure to check your grades online and check Google Classroom for any handouts or assignments you may have missed. |
